The Mad Bumble Bee Bike, alisa the 1998 Triumph Thunderbird Sport
I came across this beautiful well used Triumph Thunderbird Sport by accident.
You can see two TBS, yellow together; this belongs to my very good friend and mechanic
Who has bugged the H#*$l out of me to ride his, as in his words, “They are a fun bike to ride”.
We worked on sorting out a Norton Commando this summer for a chap who really wanted to ride the Commando rather than his Harley ElectroGluide. But after he spend a vast fortune on his HD engine, it blew up, as someone forgot to remove milling filling inside somewhere and you know what happened after that. He was looking for a ride for 10 days to go touring in the NW United States, phoned me about it and I said it would be totally unsuitable for what he is looking for as these bikes have no bags or fairing protection. Far enough he said. Before he said good bye, I inquired what color was the TBS and where was it. Had to go and see.
I was kidding my buddy Les in that we should start the TBS Mad Bumble Bee Club here in Calgary if I decided to purchase this unseen TBS.
It was love at first site.
The TBS has had a hard life in that who ever owned it only rode the Triumph changed the oils and that was about it. The price was negotiated and I had my buddy ride it home the next day.
The TBS needs a lot of TLC and I am happy to do this as it will be a nice winter’s project. I will up date this page as the work progresses.
